Cookie policy
Nothing goes on your device for analytics or affiliate tracking until you accept the banner. This page lists exactly what gets stored if you do, and what happens if you don't.

If you decline
Nothing is stored except your decision itself, so we do not ask again on every page. That is kept in your browser’s local storage under wl-consent, it never leaves your device, and it tells us nothing about you.
Everything on the site keeps working. Listings, search, the maps, the newsletter signup and the submission forms are all unaffected.
If you accept
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which listings people find useful. It runs in Google Consent Mode with storage denied by default, which means that before you accept it can only send an anonymous, cookieless signal. After you accept it sets these cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells returning visits apart from new ones | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Keeps track of a single visit | 2 years |
Stay22 (accommodation links)
Stay22 is the service behind our accommodation search. When you accept, its script loads and stores the following in your browser’s local storage, so that if you book somewhere after clicking through from here, the booking can be credited to us:
| Name | Purpose |
|---|---|
visitor_id_id22 | A visitor identifier, so a booking can be linked back to this site |
sid22 | An identifier for your current visit |
hip22, conMeth | Stay22’s own technical settings |
We earn a small commission if you book through one of these links. It never costs you more, and it is what keeps listings free. See the terms for how we label paid and affiliate content.
The accommodation maps
The “where to stay” maps are embedded from Stay22 and appear whether or not you accept, because they are part of the page rather than a tracker. If you decline, the map still works and can still credit a booking to us through the address in the map itself, but nothing is stored on your device.
Changing your mind
Clear this site’s data in your browser (usually under Settings, then Privacy, then site data) and the banner will appear again on your next visit, letting you choose differently. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings.
